It was the intent of Joan Kroc and The Salvation Army to provide equal access to the Kroc Center to all members of the community.

We are required to have $8 million in pledge commitments prior to construction. There is a Portland and Statewide effort to raise $3 million. Salem is expected to raise $5 million. These funds will enhance the endowment and will offset the ongoing operational costs. The operational costs of the competitive pool alone will utilize $6 million of the $28 million endowment.

The Salvation Army will cover ongoing maintenance and operation of the Kroc Center. Approximately 40% of annual operating costs will be covered by the permanent endowment, and the rest will be covered by memberships fees, rentals, and user group fees.
