Internship – Unpaid – Fine Arts & Ed. Homework Help Tutor
The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in Salem, Oregon is now accepting applications for interns for the Winter & Spring 2012. This position is open to highly qualified high school seniors, undergraduate and graduate students. Retired teachers shall be considered for volunteer positions.
Responsibilities and Learning: The Intern will be responsible for helping students with their homework after school. The intern shall be trained by the Fine Arts and Education Supervisor in Pre/Post assessment, differentiated learning strategies and how to implement different methods, obtaining helpful resources for tutoring, leadership, and customer service skills.
Applicants Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Consideration shall be given to: undergraduate, graduate students and High School Seniors currently enrolled and successful in Honors/AP classes. Retired educators shall be considered for volunteer positions.

- Ability to take projects from beginning through completion
- Ability and willingness to keep information confidential

The candidate chosen for this internship will be required to pass a criminal history information check. Conviction of a crime will not automatically preclude internship. The circumstances involved in the conviction(s) will be considered.

- A current resume. Remember to include volunteer and school and employment activities;
- If you are a current student; the name of a faculty contact with whom The Salvation Army may periodically communicate about the internship; and,
- A list of three current references (your faculty contact may be one).
Your cover letter will include the following and may be more than one page:
- An explanation of why you wish to intern with The Salvation Army;
- A description of your areas of interest – please be specific;
- A description of what you hope to achieve during your internship;
- How many hours you would like to work per week and your start and end dates;
- If relevant, a description of the academic requirements this internship will fulfill; and,
- Any other information you feel would be relevant to the position.

Process: The Salvation Army internships are competitive. The Salvation Army will screen applications and may conduct one or more interviews with applicants. First-round review of applications will begin as soon as possible.
